Breakfast Program

SPT Breakfast Program

At SPT we are so lucky to receive the Alberta Education Nutrition grant funding that provides a nutritious breakfast for our students. Our goal is to provide an inviting environment for kids to eat something healthy and ease into a great day of learning. Starting at 8:10 AM our doors open to our Gathering Space and our students are offered a nutritious breakfast from our Breakfast Program Team. All leftover breakfast is then used to supplement our students' lunches if needed. Our Breakfast Program Leader Nicole Smith, and her team: Brenda Anderson, Darla Machacek and Cathy Kerner prepare, serve and clean up the breakfast every morning. Nicole provides a monthly menu that is posted by the kitchen, on our parent board, and in our newsletter. We also invite parents to join their kids to sit and visit with them and their peers while they eat their breakfast. It is a great way to connect with your family and school.

Healthy Heroes Lunch Program

We are also very lucky to team up with Horizon School Division to be part of MyCityCare - Taber's Healthy Heroes nutritional supplement lunch program. This program provides accessible and barrier free access to nourishing lunches in a socially supportive way. A fridge has been provided so that our students can access food at their convenience and expressed need. The fridge is located in our Gathering Space and is freshly stocked every week thanks to this program.
