Principal's Message

Mrs. Nevil   Hello and Welcome to All,

I am Michelle Nevil and I am the proud principal of St. Patrick Elementary School.  I have been the principal at SPT for 6 years, and before that I have been a teacher and Associate Principal here at SPT.  I care about our community tremendously and am an advocate for Catholic Education in Taber, AB. Our school is a rich community of faith filled people who strive to walk in the light of Christ.  Here are the top 10 reasons to love SPT:

  1. Our Faith: We are in our third year of our faith plan "Together on the Journey" and this year we will be focusing on Being Committed and Being Accountable.

  2. Our Inclusiveness: The meaning of Catholic is to include everyone.  I am so proud of our school because we indeed accept all for whom they are and who God intended them to be.  And we help every learner reach their learning potential at that particular moment.

  3. Our Staff: We are a staff of 8 teachers and two teaching administrators. We believe in empowering, nurturing, and challenging our students. We also have an amazing support system of 17 support staff who are dedicated and put our students first.

  4. Our Thunder Athletics: This year Mrs. Tilleman will be our Phys. Ed Specialist. She will also be leading any intramurals and our after school sports program "Thunder Athletics."

  5. Our FSL (French as a Second Language) Program: Mrs. Wickson is our FSL teacher, so all 4/5 multiage students receive French class twice a week.

  6. Our Music Program: We have three music specialists, Mrs. deJong, Miss MacRae, and Mrs. Gross, for each teaching team, Grade 1, 2/3 Multiage and 4/5 Multiage.

  7. Our Wellness Program: Our Breakfast program reaches so many students and so many different students. I am proud that it is open to everyone.  We also have a wellness block in the afternoons on M-TH. This provides our students extra time to eat, play, join clubs, participate in intramurals or do whatever it takes to fill their buckets.

  8. We are a Green School: We make the care of our environment our responsibility. From monitoring solar energy to be conscious recyclers, we are always working to take care of Mother Earth.

  9. We are a Kelso School: We practice building character with Kelso and Kelso's Choices for problem solving.

  10. We Believe in Relationships: Relationships are key to successful learning and at SPT we believe in strong teacher/student and peer/student connections. That is why we have a multiage model from grade 2 to grade 5.  This allows students to have choice in positive peer groups and build strong connections with their teacher.

At SPT we Learn to Love and Love to Learn by empowering our students to become creative, proactive and problem solving humans.  As principal, I strive and hope that every child feels a sense of belonging and the love of Christ through the trusted adults in our building; and through one another.

Sincerely,

Mrs. Nevil
